About Abby Lowe

Abby Lowe serves as Communications Specialist for CHRISTUS Health at the organization’s corporate headquarters. In this role, she is responsible for assisting the CHRISTUS team in positively promoting CHRISTUS Health, its brand, facilities, programs and entities though internal and external communications.

Abby’s day-to-day work on behalf of CHRISTUS includes a wide variety of activities such as media relations, public relations, crisis communication, strategic community perception improvement, media tracking, event planning/scripting and internal communication with Associates, physicians and volunteers. She has also worked to support CHRISTUS’ social media strategy through a variety of tools, with special focus on Twitter. She manages regular conversation and communication through the CHRISTUS Health Twitter account (@CHRISTUSHealth) and her own personal Twitter account (@AbbyLowe). She also assists the CHRISTUS CEO in updating the posts on his blog, Wireside Chat With Dr. Tom. (She hijacked this blog on a recent trip to Washington, D.C.to keep CHRISTUS Associates informed about their meetings regarding health care reform. Abby earned her bachelor’s degree in Integrated Marketing and Communication from Abilene Christian University. Afterward, she spent a year in inner-city Oakland, Calif. through Mission Year, learning about the realities of poverty, assisting in a first grade classroom, and caring for homeless men’s feet in a free medical clinic.

In her spare time, Abby enjoys traveling, preparing and partaking of great food, using silly words like "hermeneutic" and "eschatology," pushing herself through tough workouts and scheming about how to make the world a better place.
